Why do we need Motivational Coaching these days? An offer you can't refuse

The possibilities to coach people in an effective manner are all over the place today. Now you can learn the needed skills, mindset and insights in order to perform a great coaching session and realize sustainable behavioral change that leads to results.

In the past, many Managers were rather frustrated that they didn't get the good results on their huge coaching efforts. The intentions they held were excellent, they wanted to give their best to their coachees.

Giving their best at that time meant giving great advice, teaching, telling and if that did not work they churned to convincing, advocating and persuading. The results were not optimal so they were struggling to get good results from the coaching sessions. The more they tried to convince their coachees the more resistance they got.

We needed to pursue our search for better solutions. It took us quite a time. We followed many training sessions, seminars and online sessions. We brought all what we learned together in a different Coaching approach.

Please, not the fact that a lot of things were already ok but there was a piece of the puzzle missing.

We also realized that after talking with many coachees most of them were not happy with the way the coaching sessions were held. They found it way too directive, they had the feeling of not being involved in the change process. The result was simple they became defensive and there was no change in behavior.

Our new approach was now focused on the coachee, meaning we tried to figure out his reasons to change his behavior. We had to develop an approach that was focused on installing trust from the start (CIQ Conversational Intelligence) and obtaining the intrinsic drivers of the coachees.

We were looking for what motivates a coachee to change his behavior for his reasons not for the reasons of his coach/boss/manager. We found a lot of reasons for which coachees are willing to change their behavior. Afterwards we worked with the coaches to teach them the process of revealing the intrinsic drivers of their coachees. The process contains 4 steps that are fundamental namely:

  1. Installing trust and building a great connection with the coachee.
  2. Defining clearly what is the main coaching topic because at sometimes it is too vague.
  3. The search for the solution by the coachee not by the coach.
  4. Elaborating the plan of implementation and the crucial follow-up.

As we elaborated this process we needed to test it, so we have coached many coaches in this approach and watched the outcome of their coaching sessions. To be very authentic some sessions were not ok at the start, so we had to fine-tune them that's what we have done all the way. We build a lot of experience before launching the program on Motivational Coaching (tc3/ulyia concept).

It is perfect?  No, I think perfection doesn't exist, the only thing that exists is making it better every day. That is our commitment to all our customers!

Now we can state that the coaches are happy with the approach meaning they have

  • Good results of their coaching sessions.
  • No frustrations anymore.
  • Stronger trust relations with their coachees.
  • More and faster buy in to realize sustainable behavioral change.
  • More collaboration
